What’s New in Government Internal Control Standards

On  April 14, 2016 Dawn Simpson, GAO will present What’s New in Government Internal Control Standards? The presentation will cover the GAO’s revision to the Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book), including the components, principles, and attributes; layout; and relationship to the Yellow Book. Dawn Simpson is an Acting Director on the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) Financial Management and Assurance Team. She is responsible for major federal financial statement audits, including annual audits of the Schedule of Federal Debt, which currently presents about $18 trillion of federal debt, and the U.S. Government’s Consolidated Financial Statements. She is also responsible for federal debt and cash management issues, such as the statutory debt limit. She has been GAO’s representative to the International Supreme Audit Institutions’ Working Group on Public Debt since 2011. Ms. Simpson received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Kentucky. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
